กสทช. ออกมาเผยสถิติการนำเข้าโทรศัพท์มือถือและแท็บเล็ตมาย ังประเทศไทย ซึ่งต้องผ่านการตรวจสอบจาก กสทช. โดยนับตั้งแต่ปี 2552 ถึง 19 ธันวาคม 2556 รวมทั้งสิ้น 3,880 รุ่น 92.7 ล้านเครื่อง คิดเป็นมูลค่ารวม 6.5 แสนล้านบาท
ปีที่นำเข้าโทรศัพท์และแท็บเล็ตมากที่สุดคือปี 2555 จำนวน 23 ล้านเครื่อง, ปี 2554 22.7 ล้านเครื่อง, ส่วนปี 2556 นำเข้า 10.7 ล้านเครื่อง (กสทช. ไม่อธิบายว่าทำไมปี 2556 ยอดถึงตกลงเยอะขนาดนี้ครับ)
กสทช. ยังเผยรายชื่อมือถือรุ่นยอดนิยมในแต่ละปี ดังนี้ (ไม่บอกว่าในแต่ละปีเรียงตามลำดับหรือไม่นะครับ)

  • ปี 2552 ได้แก่ iPhone3, Samsung Spica i5700, Samsung Candy, Samsung Star, Nokia N97 mini, Nokia 5230, Nokia 5530, Nokia Xpress Music, i-mobile IE3250, i-mobile IE5510, i-mobile IE6530
